Today in Exploration

Today in the history of exploration: in 1492, Christopher Columbus set sail from the Canary Islands to cross the Atlantic for the first time; the only surviving ship from Magellan’s expedition returned to Spain in 1522; the Pilgrims set sail from Plymouth for the New World in 1620; and in 1628 the Puritans settled Salem in what would become the Massachusetts Bay Colony. A good day to sit back and read the article in the latest edition of The New Yorker about the infamous Salem Witchcraft Trials of the summer of 1692.
